How To Sow Your British Wildflower Seeds
The seeds are a special mix of British Wildflower Seeds which are a perfect mix of wildflowers for all different types of bees and other pollinators. They are produced here in the UK, from 100% native British wildflowers and sustainably harvested.
They contain 0% grass seed, so they are perfect for sowing in pots, containers, or flowerbeds!
There is enough seed to sow an area of between ½ - 1 square meter.
HOW TO SOW YOUR SEEDS ON BARE SOIL
Sow in Spring or Late summer/early autumn.
Prepare the area that you want to seed by removing all the weeds
Rake the surface of the soil and create an even surface. Do NOT add any compost or soil improver.
To remind where you have sown your seeds, mark out with canes.
Water the area where you are going to sow your seeds.
Top Tip - You can bulk out the seeds with sand which will help you see where you have sown the seeds.
Scatter the seeds in your marked out area.
Lightly press the seeds into the soil. Do NOT cover with soil.
Water when the soil looks dry (don’t over water them as you can wash the seeds away before they have had chance to germinate).
HOW TO LOOK AFTER THE WILDFLOWERS
Water them in dry periods.
Some of the perennial wildflowers take a while to grow and some do not flower in the first year.
Weed out perennial weeds like nettles, thistles, and dock.
Cut back at the from end of August after they have gone to seed (which will allow the area to develop with more flowers) through to March the next year and then leave them to bloom for the bees to enjoy (and you too!)
